K-pop sensations Monsta X appears to hint at a new album just days after making a powerful live return to the stage in Seoul. The beloved boy group—consisting of Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Joohoney, and I.M—treated fans to an emotional reunion with three electrifying shows at the KSPO Dome from July 18 to 20. These performances marked their first full-group fan event in over four years, largely due to mandatory military enlistments.
A Surprise Tease for September
As the group basked in the glow of their long-awaited comeback, Monsta X appears to hint at a new album through a mysterious teaser clip shared on social platform X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, July 20. The short but powerful message read, “MONSTA X IS COMING 2025.09.01.” The date, September 1, has sparked speculation among fans and media alike, with many reports strongly suggesting that a brand-new album is on the horizon.
Reunion Reflections from the Group
Ahead of their concert series, Monsta X held a press event at the Conrad Hotel on July 16. Members Hyungwon and Shownu opened up about the group’s chemistry post-enlistment and the joy of being back together.
“Since we’re preparing for our concert, we’ve spent a lot of time together,” Hyungwon said. “I was surprised by how nothing has really changed in terms of our teamwork since returning from the military. Our passion for practice and sense of humour have stayed the same.”
With a playful grin, he added, “I’d say our visuals have become more mature — and even sexier.”
Celebrating 10 Years with a Special Release
In honor of their 10th anniversary, the group released Now Project Vol. 1 in May—a digital album featuring re-recorded versions of 10 songs originally released between 2021 and 2023. This project was especially meaningful, as it included Shownu’s vocals for the first time on these tracks. At the time of their original release, he was completing his military duties and couldn’t participate.
A Multi-Language Legacy
Throughout their career, Monsta X has proven their global reach by releasing albums in Korean, Japanese, and English. Their last full-length English album, The Dreaming, was released in 2021. With the cryptic teaser and the excitement still buzzing from their live shows, fans are now eagerly awaiting what comes next.
There’s no official confirmation yet, but if the teaser is any indication, Monsta X appears to hint at a new album that could mark a bold new era for the group—and September 1 can’t come soon enough.
