Tragic news has emerged from the music world as Lil Jon shared the devastating loss of his son, DJ Young Slade. The artist confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement released on Friday, expressing deep grief alongside his family.
In an emotional message, Lil Jon revealed that his son, Nathan Smith, had passed away at the age of 27. “I am extremely heartbroken for the tragic loss of our son,” he shared. “His mother, Nicole Smith, and I are devastated.” He went on to describe Nathan as a truly special soul—kind, caring, thoughtful, polite, and warmhearted—someone who loved his family and friends deeply.
Lil Jon also spoke with pride about Nathan’s accomplishments and talent. He described him as an exceptionally gifted young man who worked as a music producer, artist, and engineer, and who was a graduate of NYU. “We loved Nathan with all of our hearts and are incredibly proud of him,” he said, adding that the family finds comfort in knowing they expressed their love and appreciation during their final moments together.
The rapper extended his gratitude to the Milton Police Department for their efforts in helping search for his son after he was reported missing earlier in the week. Authorities later confirmed that a body was recovered from a nearby pond in Milton, Georgia—about 30 miles north of Atlanta—and stated there were no signs of foul play.
